Whats ur opinion girls???

Hi everyone just a bit mixed up on what to do for the best even tho the best seems obvious...

Im a dental nurse so quite exposed to things anyways, but i have been off taking some holidays since last wednesday so know im clear at the minute but on wednesday night one of the girls brothers came back from mexico and within 24 hours she had developed swine flu - the gp said that it will take up to 7 days for anyone else to develop symptoms within our practice so basically 5 other girls have a chance of carrying the virus even tho they wont be able to tell untill thur!

I rang both midwife and gp who have told me to stay clear until confirmed it is ok at work but one of the dentists seems to think im taking the mick as said wel she could catch it anywhere and basically i should go in, this makes me feel really guilty and angry as ive not once rang in sick during pregnancy and know that i have to do whats in the best interest and after speaking to my gp decided not to go in but im concerend now they wont pay me with him saying what he said, but its like saying you can get run over on any road but u have more of a chance if a car is coming but dont worry bout that!

Maybe its just me but im now off for the week - dont get me wrong am pleased for the rest and agree with outcome but now have been sent on a guilt trip by work which surely they cannot do???

Sorry for the rant but feel better now!!!

Ignore your work, you and your baby are your priority, and if your GP says you have to take time off, then you HAVE to take time off.
There are a few groups which need to be treated specially for the swine flu, pregnant women being one of them, we will actually be priority for the jabs which are meant to start next month sometime I think.

Whilst its true you could catch it anywhere, clearly you're more likely to get if from someone who has it!

Can't you ask your GP to sign you off sick or write a letter to your employer?

I think you are right to take off until you are past possible exposure! There has been some evidence that swine flu is especially dangerous to women in their 3rd Tri of pg. Better to be safe, hon! Don't feel bad for protecting your baby.

Soz but your boss sounds a right dick!!
Stay and home like the DOCTOR advised,he spent years training to be a doctor and knows what hes talking about, whereas your boss is a dentist and may know about teeth but sod all else clearly or he wouldnt be trying to lay on the guilt trip for you to go in!!
You and your baby are WAYYYYYY more important hunni, its not worth the risk.
Hugs
