I'm Currently Feeling:

I'm not sure I'm producing milk

1st off, I'm sorry its so long and thanks for taking the time to read this.

ok so here I am almost 31 weeks and I only have 9 weeks to go before Rylee is here, I'm not really planing on breastfeeding but I have had a issue with smoking, please girls spare me the talks, I know how bad it is and I have really tried my hardest to quit.... but nothing has worked. I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was pretty far along. The Good news is though Rylee is doing GREAT! She has developed like she should and her weight is right on track for this stage. My concern is that when she gets here she will have the nicotine in her system and she might have problems adjusting to formula and in which case my doctor said I could do something like 75% my milk and 25% formula and so on and so forth until shes use to the formula.

I'm just scared though that I'm not making that much milk. I have read threads about girls being.... like 18 weeks and have already gone up 2 cup sizes and I just bought a larger size of bra about 2 weeks ago.... although I should have gotten them a little sooner but still I'm just now making it into a C cup and I haven't been leaking any milk that I have noticed. I do how ever have nipple rings and I'm wondering if they could be causing an issue with this because the guy that did them for me didn't go through the nipple itself, well he did its just a little farther back the nipple then I thought it should be. I have read that they will not cause any issues with breastfeeding but they arn't done like what I think they should have been...... is any of this making since??

Now if any of you girls have piercings, especially deep ones like the nipples you know that when they are new the produce protein around the holes until till they heal up all the way and some times with the deeper ones a lot longer afterwards, and with the nipples it can take up to a year for them to stop doing that.... well mine weren't done yesterday but they arnt a year old and I'm having a hard time telling if its the protein thats building up on the outsides over night or if its milk.

Has any one had this issue or knows maybe something that could help me out.... other then tell me to take them out, I'm trying my hardest to not do that if I don't need to, now don't get me wrong I will if I have to but thats something I will not do again and since they don't hurt anymore I really like them.

have you mentioned anything to you doctor about it? I dont know anyone with nipple rings that is preggo/TTC, so I really have no advice, just didn't want to read and not write anything.

Also, alittle off topic, but I didn't know nipple rings took up to a year to heal! My BF's mom had hers done, but took them out because she didn't think they were healing. My mom and step dad both have them done too (we are not much of a traditional family.. lol )

Lol yeah they take a really long time because they are so deep.

You know all my doctor said, and this was on the first visit and I was almost 4 months then, she told me that breastfeeding would be the best thing for they baby..... but we all know that... and that I would have to take them out for the feedings, but thats a given.

Other then that she hasn't said much, and I really didnt start thinking about it until now and I dont go back till the 8th.

Hey I had nipple rings with my first and they are done far back, I got them done again and have taken them out again. The problem i had was it leaked loads when my boobs actually filled even though i had them out for months. Dont worry about not leaking yet or the size you have gone to. I went to a DD from a B but the rest of me has grown about 10 sizes too! You don't actually get your milk until the baby is born up to a week afterwards. Anyhoo nipple rings shouldn't cause a problem and no worries on the sizes or not leaking your doing fine

great! that makes me feel much better, thank you!

Dan keeps telling me that I'm crazy and I'm just looking for things to worry about cause I have gotten board.

maybe hes right.

I'm not sure I could get them done again, so I'm trying to hold in there as long as I can.

i just take it out when feeding one of them on that side, then sterilise and put it back in after, no problems, ive had the occasional time where ive leaked by it, but nothing major, ive fed Izzie for 9 months now and doingKabe too now, and never had a problem with it.

Good luck x

Wow, thats great. its neat how many people really have nipple rings

I'm really not big on the whole breastfeeding thing, due to some things that happened in my past, but If I need to I will do what I have to for my little girl.

Thanks for the info everyone!
