I'm Currently Feeling:

question about breast feeding

I have a question.. I want to express when Colton is born, that way my BF can get involved (he says all the time he cannot wait to hold him/feed him/etc).

I am wanting to feed nothing but breast for the first 6-12 weeks (expressing, as I dont feel comfortable breast feeding [I wasn't going to at all at first because of this]), then after 6-12 weeks combo feeding that way I wont have to worry about making sure to get enough milk and having time to express all day.

But my question is.. after I have done just breast for the first 6-12 weeks, my milk supply would be high, right? How do I get my milk supply to slow down without getting engorged or it being painful?

I couldnt breast feed with my first and was given tablets to speed up the 'drying out' process and was shown ways to massage and tricks to ease the pain and discomfort. If you know when your going to stop im sure the Dr could prescribe them for you and show you how to help ease it yourself

would the tablets make me completely dry out? I dont want to dry out completely, just kind of slow down. Do I just stop taking them when I'm slowed down enough?

It's all about supply and demand - if you're pumping less you'll produce less
