SOS! 38 weeks, period-like cramps, acetaminophen OK?

Well, as the title says, I am 38 weeks and suffering from baad cramping. They aren't really regular (yet?!), so I doubt that I am in labour, but they are really strong - stronger than what I used to get before my period (but not so strong that I can't talk or do basic stuff when they come on).

BUT, they are coming every 15-25 minutes and I am afraid that I won't be able to sleep tonight if I don't get them under some control. Anyone know if acetaminophen might help/ be Ok to take?

Didn't sleep well last night, and would love to sleep tonight!

Thank you!!!

A

Absolutely Tylenol is safe to take during pregnancy, though whether it will help is another question :-) If it's labour, maybe not so much. In my prenatal class, they suggested that if you think you're in early labour, then do whatever it takes to get some sleep... including a glass of wine, if available. All the women in the class were very excited at the prospect of some wine...

Not helping a lot yet Perhaps I need another dose???

Ibuprofen used to help my period cramps, but I know we aren't allowed that! Sigh. Wouldn't it be funny if this was labour and I showed up drunk??!!

You can take tylenol, I would personally take the tylenol and warm up a heating pad/hot water bottle to help with the cramps

May be BH also??

Well, it's gonna hafta happen sometime soon - she can't stay in there forever I don't think these are actual labour cramps - it feels JUST like when I used to get bad PMS - but they aren't getting more intense nor are they more frequent. Just practicing for the big times Will text you when it's time though!

well, the wine has definitely made me sleepy (I'm a cheap drunk!!!), may try a tylenol and cuddle up in bed. Leaving the bottle on the counter just in case I wake up in the middle of the night!

Wish me luck tonite!

Well, that SUCKED!

The wine helped me sleep, but I was awakened by stabbing pains that radiated through my back and down my legs at about 3am. I could NOT remain lying down, they were that painful. So I sat on the couch and started to time them - they lasted 4 minutes and were from 12-15 minutes apart (so every 10 minutes or so from the end of one to the start of another - NOT long enough to sleep!).

I took a tylenol, and eventually fell asleep on the couch at around 5 am, and was awakened by my OH when he got up for work Good thing I'm on mat leave, as I slept until 9:30.

I knew they weren't labour contractions, but sheesh! Do "false" labour or "practice" contractions HAVE to be so painful?????

Harumpf!
