I took Castor Oil with my first. It gave me a very upset stomach and I was vomiting from taking it. It did not help jump start my labor at all. I've heard recently, that people are saying not to take castor oil and to try other methods to jump start labor. I haven't done any research as to 'why not', but I know it didn't do anything for me but make me sick.

Have you tried nipple stimulation? sex? walking up and down stairs?

Good Luck!!

try to relax littlelady, personally i would not take castor oil it can cause diarroah( never can spell it!!) and is not a good way to start off your labour, (it is not going to be a pretty sight if you get this in pushing stage) your baby will come when it is ready - i am all for natural methods, sex, walking, curries etc but in all honesty they only work if baby is ready to come out. They may have started off labours for some BUT only because baby is ready. Castor oil can cause labour to happen faster if u are ready and this is NOT neccessarily a good thing as it can cause baby to be distressed. i would not be too concerned what is done is done but i would certainly inform your MW that you have taken it if you do go into labour AND I STRONGLY ADVISE OTHERS AGAINST TAKING CASTOR OIL TO INDUCE LABOUR. That is my opinion, sorry, i just think that it is ridiculous to risk your babies safety for the sake of being a little uncomfortable for a few more days. Your due date is only today isnt it? i know it is hard and your emotional and cant wait to see your baby- but please be safe and let it happen of its own accord, or on doctors/MW recommendation. good luck with the birth. xx
