How do you knw when your baby is engaged? do you feel different?

Hi there,

This ismy first baby so i dont know what to expect. How do you know when your baby is engaged. do you feel different? i feel like the baby has dropped and the movements tend to be right at the top of my bump or right at the bottom.

just wondering if anyone felt differently or the bump felt different when the baby was engaged.

i have incredible pelvis pain since the baby was engaged. Its really difficult to walk due to the pressure her head puts on my cervix. if i walk more than a few feet i'm in agony. Other than that its not really any different. Maybe i have a little less indigestion than before but not very noticeable.

This is my first pregnancy as well so I don't have an answer for you, but i'm sure the fine ladies on here will be able to answer your questions. I'd like to know as well so I can prepare myself. I'm really getting nervous about giving birth!

this is my first aswell hun, but maybe cos ur feeling kicks at the top now maybe shes just turned round, my LO was breeched till 32wk , after mths of having kicks down there all of a suddern they were very high up !
apprentley when babies engaged thats when u start to "woddle" when u walk

my bump defo looks lower in pics but i dont feel any different, at next mw app ask her, mine said i was 3/5 last wk

I also gets lots of movement near ribs, at last appt doctor said she had turned round, but had not yet engaged her head. I'd also like to know what it feels like, hopefully not too much pelvic pain, as I already struggle walking around supermarket etc.

it can vary from person to person. LO has been head down since i was 25weeks and the past few weeks it feels like i have a ball between my legs. my kids have said i am walking like a duck! (thanks kids). also the only movement i get is under my rib area nothing low down.

Ive been waddling the last week or so since baby has been engaged. Also feel more pressure down there!!

hey hun, i didnt feel a huge difference just my bump looked a little lower that was all, but then again Soph was only 2/5th engaged and i had her 12 hours later lol
So theres proof your first baby doesnt have to be engaged for you to go into labour!! xxx

i couldnt be exactly sure of the exact moment, but i did feel my bump had shifted lower and i felt more movements lower down, right above my pubic bone. also the occasional nudge and push (his bum?) at the top of my bump. the midwife confirmed at my last appt that he had indeed engaged!
