How soon is your doc willing to induce you?

Just curious, because at my doctor yesterday she said they'd let me go a whole week past my due date to be induced - which makes me extremely jealous of my friend whose due date was yesterday and she gets to be induced today!

I think it ALL depends on your doctor. My friend's doctor was letting her go 3 WEEKS before he would do anything!!! 21 flippin' days!!!!! I thought that was crazy, but she ended up going on her own at 17 days (still ridiculous)

The doctor I'M seeing is AWESOME!! I visited him yesterday at 40+4, and he brought up induction, DH and I joked about how this Friday would work for us, and he said, "Friday? Okay, sure!!" So, I'll be 41 weeks when I'm induced

I think you going 'a whole week' isn't bad at all. Some people have to wait longer. I think here the general amount is about 10 days.

PS- I'm jealous of 2 friends that have just had their babies before me too

Hi Starah,

I think everywhere is different for this. A week isn't so bad (compared to the hospital I'm attending over here). They will let you go two weeksoverdue before induction

. But no longer than this (as I think it can have consequences if mother goes too far overue).

Really hope I don't go overdue.. I don't think I'd cope for a full two weeks of waiting after my due date

I'm too impatient

(and HUGE!)

Plus I went 8 days over on my son & he was a whopper, 9lb 7oz

They won't induce you until 41-42 wks here. They will only do it sooner for medical reasons. They won't sweep until 41 wks either.

Yeah I suppose 1 week really isn't bad - kinda how long I thought she'd wait, but just thinking about that being 3 weeks away is absolutely killing me!! lol

My doctor says any time between 3-5days after my due date he will induce me, depends when i want. id prefer 4days after at night time. Cause that will be the 31st and thats my brothers birthday. then will hopefuly be born on the 1st, cant be on the second cause thats my cousins birthday xD

my M/W said if i have to be induced this will be discussed at next appointment which is for when im 41+5 so im hoping i go on my own

I went for a check up today (40+6) and my induction is booked for 11th July! I begged to have it done sooner - I'm just so hot and uncomfortable and my last baby was 9lb 15.5oz at 40+10 so I am a little concerned about the size this one will be if I get that far - I know she is 8.5lb today....

Anyway, they won't touch me until then because I am healthy and the baby is fine too.

Its a bit scary.

The norm here is 10 days past your due date.
