Where we are they allow you to go up to 2 wks after your due date but i don't know anyone yet who's actually gone that far without either going into labour themselves or without them being induced anyway. I was induced 5 days early with my 1st due to spd & i had to beg for 2 wks for it, they kept putting me off.
My cousin had a sweep with her 2nd girl a few days after her due date, She came to my house the day after in labour asking for my phone to ring a mate for a lift lol

With my second they allowed me to go maximum 10 days over and should I need another one, they pre-booked my induction at my 20 week scan appointment for 31st July, my actual due date being 25th July so only 6 days to wait if I don't go naturally!

I get to be induced next thursday if I dont go on my own and will be 40+2, and even then the hospital wanted me to be induced right at 40 weeks because I am on BP medication, BUT.. my friggen specialist decided that last wednesday he was going to go on a nice trip to hawaii and wont be back till the 9th of july to induce me.... I want it out now!

Mr. Dr says they don't let anyone go over a week overdue. She told me at 38 weeks she would induce me if I was dilated at all because I was asking her to induce me.

She seems pretty lax about induction. She told me she would induce me if I wasn't dilated at all, only that it came with a big risk of having a c-section if you were not dilated before they tried to induce you.

I'm going to beg her to induce me or schedule a c-section at my appointment tomorrow. I can't take it anymore. I really hope she goes for it.

Where i am i'm told i'll be offered a sweep after 7 days, and offered induction at 10 days, but another mw said they wont induce before 14 days over. If policy differs mw to mw at the same clinic who knows what might actually happen! That said though i'm not keen on the induction idea, i hear it makes labour much more painful x

Can I ask, out of interest, why so many people are so keen to be induced? I'm really hot and everything, and LO is wriggling a lot, a bit painfully sometimes, but I've read that induced labours can be much more painful - so I desperately DON'T want one? Is that unusual?!

I was wondering the same as lindypops.. also, those people who are wanting an induction now - did you start earlier in the pregnancy being against them, but as you got closer to your due date, are now keen to meet your LO and happier to take something on offer to speed things along?

I'm with you lindy!! I can't understand that so many people would want to be induced - I've been told it's much easier and much less painful to go naturally!! You will also be monitored throughout so labour can't be as active, you can't use the pool etc. Also, higher risk of needing intervention - ventouse, forceps or c-section.

As it happens, I have to be induced early due to a medical condition. I really wish I could go naturally though!!

I have to be induced due some issues with my placenta so am booked for just over 39 weeks. But had this not been the case, my obs said she books inductions at 3 days overdue....

I am having an epidural wit a regular hospital birth so am less worried about the pain factor of induction or being able to use a birthing pool.

Would love it for little guy to come on his own accord, but am also happy with knowing when the end is in sight at this stage.

I do think there is something to the last weeks of pregnancy and feeling quite done....

xx

When i was pregnant with charlie at 4 days over due i got told id have to wait another 10 days before they'd bring me in for an induction so 42 weeks, I went in to labour 2 am the next morning tho so had him at 40+5 it was all good, i would have HATED beeing induced theres no way there forcing this next baby our of be unless its urgent!!! if you really dont want to be induced at 14 days they'll keep a very close eye on you to make sure everythings ok, but as iv said a million times before the babys will come when there good and ready! i know its awful and even worse this time of year when its boiling belive me a year ago today charlie was exactly a day old and i hated beeing pregnant in the heat but id have done it for another 3 weeks if it ment going at it naturaly!
