Nipple Stimluation (warning, contains very personal info)

HI guys

Im sorry about this but i need to explain whats going on with me before i can ask my nipple question, its VERY personal so if your sqemish dont read on...

Since yesterday monring i have been loseing my plug, its very thick and gooey, today i am having to scoop it out each time i go to teh loo coz i can feel it just inside me and its getting stuck

Since yesterdasy Jase has been massaging primrose oil on to cervix, we have heard and read that if can soften the cervix out quickly in preperation for labour.....thats all we are waiting for, my cervix to thin out so by the looks of the show the primrose oil is working very well.

My nipple question is, we have read alot that 20 mins on each side with a breast pump can bring on labour due to the hormoes realsed....I have a pump, but teh moment i put it on a start leaking the clear fluid so i stop, im worried that if i express for 20 mins that the clear stuff will go and my milk will come in, which means once the baby is born he wont get any of that and i know thats the most important bit.

Does anyone know if my milk would come in that quick? is it safe for me to express for 20 mins to try to kick start labour if im already leaking or should i give it a miss and save it for the baby?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

I'm Currently Feeling:

Hiya hun, glad to hear your cervix seems to be playing ball, so to speak

Just thought I'd let you know that I've been leaking what I can only describe as milk/colostrum (its a yellow colour, not clear) for about a week now and when I mentioned it to the midwife she said that it was perfectly normal. So I think that if I am leaking it without expressing, it would be perfectly okay for you to, while trying to bring things on. From what I understand about breastfeeding (this will be my first time at attempting it) EVERY time you breast feed the breasts always release that fore milk before the thick heavy duty stuff, so I don't think expressing your colostrum early will make any difference at all to your reserves.

Hope that helps .... happy pumping
Naimi xx

Rather than pumping your nipples will just fiddling and twiddling not do the same job?

If it does then at least you don't have to worry about losing the "Pre milk"

That might sound so stupid! (sorry!)

I've heard of this too Yvonne. I was watchign a video the other day of a labour and the lady's husband was stimulating her nipples to help bring on labour and also reduce her pain...

i've not heard of the pumping thing, only the nipple stimulation.
i would think the pump would make you a bit sore.

I was 8 days over due and i tried everything... and i dont think anything really worked.

i think at the end of the day the baby will come when cooked.

i read to use the pump coz its stronger and can trigger things to happen sooner, but i guess hand stimulation is just as good.

Baby hasnt moved hardly atqall today either, not sure wether i need to phone up about that or just wait and see how it goes

I would ring, you can't be too careful. Its only half an hour out of your day, probably in the middle of a midwife tea break but hey ho! (I always timed it wrong to go into hospital!! and they were never impressed!) LMAO
