Just wanted to ask your experiences of this. Last Sunday went into hospital with some pinky discharge and tummy pains, was put on monitor and showed i was having contractions. Then the internal showed i was dilated to 2cm. I was admitted into hospital and taken up to delivery where they gave me drip and 2 steriod injections to strengthen babys lungs. I was in hospital for 3 nights and now home on bedrest.

Have you girls had a similar experience and how soon did you deliver your baby after this?

I've suffered with ptl in now all 3 of my pregnancies.

My first I had preterm labor at 25weeks and was put on magnesim drip for 48hrs and then given steriod injections...then pills at home and bedrest. I made it to 34 weeks!

Second baby I went into ptl at about 23 weeks and was on the Mag awful drug i know! and I was send home 4 days later to be on strict bedrest. I had preterm labor a few times and they stopped it each time. I dialated to about 3cm. I ended up making it to 30weeks....but i had baby b/c i lost all my fluid.

This time around I'm 30weeks tomorrow and went into labor the first time at only 19weeks. I've been on bedrest most of my pregnancy with the exception of when i dont have help. I've been 2cm's and 85% effaced since i was 19 weeks. I contract quite a bit and have to take procardia every 6hours and drink LOTS. I've been in the hospital 4 times now to be be given the steriods, and also either mag or terbulatine to stop my contractions. I've held on so far!!! My doctor thinks i'll make it to 34 weeks which is awesome b/c we never thought i'd get this far.

Just follow your bedrest rules(even though its TOUGH) and take your meds and watch for any signs of labor. You are 34 weeks so thats awesome!. At about 36weeks you probably can go off bedrest and not take meds and if you go into labor then they will just let you. Alot of women have ptl and end up going overdue! Just take it easy and hang in there......glad you got the steriods b/c if baby comes early its a big help to them!

Btw...my last two...the 34wker was in the hosp for 2wks and the 30wker was in for 6weeks....so they did pretty well. They are both cuties pies and totally boys! haha

Hi Gabrielle, thank you so much for your reply and for telling me your experience. It scared the life out of me last week as was totally unexpected (1st baby) but you know all the way through i thought he'd be coming early, but at 33weeks!? i'm doing ok though he's hanging in there for the time being.

Thank you again for your advice i have a feeling that my little man will be making an appearance soon but as your say 34week+ is kinda heading in the right direction. Sending you lots of hugs hope everything works out well with you too x

No, but this happened to my friend last night, im terrified its going to happen to me now lol.

with my first i went into labour at 23 + 6 they put me on a drip gave me steroids i had started dilating but they managed to stop it i stayed in hospital for a week n they sent me home on tablets to control the contractions cant remember what they were called i gave birth to my daughter at 27 + 3 shes 15 now!!

I know it is scary but don't worry i don't think it happens that often, plus i've just had a feeling that baby is coming early all the way through this pregnancy, plus from what i'm hearing the intensive care for little babies is amazing nowadays x

Wow that must of been terrifying at 23+6 but fantastic that they managed to stop it and you made it to 27+3 and she's 15 now! good stuff x thank you for posting your experience x
