Quick quick hurry crib or cotbed??

Girls

I know a few weeks ago I said I was going to go for a cotbed BUT I have only just seen cribs and they look reallly cute with the drapes to match etc
our bedroom is more than big enough to hold either a crib or a cotbed but I am now in two minds about what to get and I have bid for both on ebay which finishes in the next hour!!!!!

PLus points of crib
snug for baby wont feel to intimidated by lots of space
cool drapes
loads of storage space underneath for changing box and mat and other stuff
small and compact

cons
only last 6 months if lucky

Cot
last from 0 to 3 years
wont have to buy anthing for 3 years

cons
no space underneath
takes up quite a bit of room

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

I would go for the cotbed...why wasting money on something you can just use for a few months...the cotbed you can use up to 4/5yrs.

Okay. What is the difference between a crib and cotbed? I guess I could google it but can someone post pictures?! I'm a naive American here.

But from reading your description, cotbed all the way because it is the most economic way to go since it lasts longer and such.

well we have both. cotbed in nursery and crib in our room. I'm very glad i got the crib tbh as the first few weeks she struggled to sleep in her crib as she was so lost in it, she hated the exposure. she still sleeps in her crib at 8 1/2 months though we'll be moving her into the cot soon. We have used a travel cot whilst away before and my LO ended up upside down and allsorts in it. Personally i wouldn't have a newborn in a cot but that's my personal preference.

yeah defo cot bed if that fits in ur bedroom. We got cot bed for nursery then havin baby in our bedroom in a moses basket for first 4 mths, mainly as a cot wud take up 2 much room in our bedroom. A lot of people (jo frost supernanny!) dont recommended crib or even cot for first few weeks as baby likes to feel snug & secure like in womb & moses basket is just right size. xxx

i should add, we didn't buy a moses basket in the end in favour of the crib, we just used our detachable pram body for the first week or 2.
