I'm Currently Feeling: | I could be wrong, so don't quote me on this, but I think that the only reason why brown sugar, castor oil and hot curries for example help bring on labour is because of the effect they have on your stomache. Brown sugar in hot water is commonly used as a natural laxative and the came with castor oil and spicy foods, they clear you out. However because they clear you out quite rapidly they cause your stomache muscles to contract a fair bit. Think of how you feel after a stomache flu, you get cramps and your stomache muscles hurt. I think its the same, the clearing out effect helps your stomache to start contracting, hence bringing on labour.
I could be talking out my backside, but I'm pretty sure thats what I've been told in the past. I suppose the question is, are you willing to go through some clearing out to bring on labour ??? I know I will be by 37 weeks ... I am now !!! LOL
Hope that helps in some way
