Wobbles that really is quite shocking. I'd be making such a fuss if i were you, you know what my opinions are on my midwives i have had but nothing as bad as that.

So sorry hun. I'd certainly mention something to somebody but in the mean time if hope you're able to find the info you need.

Xx

I had a birthing plan the first time, but I had the best MW ever, so I got everything I wanted and everything was talked thru with me.......so this time I never had one, I was told I could do one, but there was no need for it. Well, that will be the last time I will not be doing one, because at the very least the only thing I want to put on it is "talk to me about everything you are planning and ask my feelings about it, rather than deciding for me and me having to do as my told"!

The idea of them is that because you are so busy concentrating on delivering, all of your wishes are put down on paper to give them an idea of the sort of birth and care you are looking for.........of course things may have to change, but as long as you put on there that you understand this, but still want to be informed and asked before decisions are taken out of your hands, then they should abide by this. After all it is your labour, not theirs and you are not just another number, you are an individual!

Do one to take with you babe! x

I wrote my birth plan in a rush, I was still writing it when I was having contractions lol as I felt how you seem to, unsure and feeling as if I want my wishes to be made clear.

I read so many birth plan guides online, all going into great detail.. in the end all I wrote basically was:
Wanted boyfriend and mum there
Gas and air only
No pethidine
Would like to move around freely
No epidural unless absolutely necessary!
Would like the injection to hurry the placenta delivery
Bethanie checked before being given to me - Only thing that didn't go to plan*
Boyfriend to cut the cord if he wants to

Short and sweet!

Layla - You said you couldn't do the water birth as you were back to back? just to say Wobbles, it obviously depends on you.. I had back to back and I couldn't lie on the bed. When they told me I could get in the pool it really helped and I found it supported me and was a lovely experience.

As said though, you MAY completely change your mind. Before getting to hospital I was dead set against a water birth, couldn't think of much worse! - now i've had Bethanie that way, I couldn't imagine another way. It's weird how quickly you can change your mind once you're in pain.

Lol, the head midwife seemed keen to stick to my birth plan. All I can remember was feeling like I was about to pass out and muttering "Pethidine" and she said "what about it?" and I replied "I want it" LOL.. she said "no, you don't need it"
So maybe put on your birth plan for example: "no pethidine UNLESS I REALLY WANT IT" :P

it wasnt that i wasnt allowed in the pool coz Charlie was back to back, it was that i needed pain relife coz i couldnt handle it anymore, so once i got to 5cm i got out and had the epi, i could of stayed in the pool and delivered but i was to much of a wimp

Sorry, didn't phrase that very well. I knew you personally didn't want it, not that they stopped you :P I just wanted to make clear to Wobbles that we all have a different experience obviously. It was fine for me since I had gas and air, but had I had an epidural, it would have been a different story im sure.
