Did my waters break?

I woke up an hour ago feeling like I was leaking. I went to the toilet and my knickers are soaked all the way through. On closer inspection of my bed the towel I put down is damp and has gone through a little to my sheets. It is definitely not urine as it doesn't smell like it.

I have had period like pains since, its at my back, all the way round my hips and my bump.

Stupid question now, but what do I do?? Do I need to ring the hospital or should I wait and see what happens over the next few hours? I have tried going back to sleep, but there's no chance of that.

Cx

Oh, H is due at work today and will be getting up in under 2 hours, do I send him in?

I would call the OB unit and tell them exactly what you told us! They'll be able to advise you further! Odds are they'll want you to come in! You sound like you're going to have a baby very soon!

Thanks all.

I called the labour ward and they have asked me to put a pad on and call them back in an hour. I have told them I'm not leaking anything, but they still want me to check.

I now have to decide whether to send H to work, he doesn't drive, gets a car share and is 25 miles from home. If he has to come back during the day he will need to get a train and then a bus just to get here. Don't ask how we'll get to the hospital (another 25 miles in the opposite direction) when I am in established labour.

Is it normal to feel sick too? I don't have the urge to throw up or anything, just feel nauseous.

Supposedly it's normal to feel sick during labor, and to get sick and puke throughout!

Wish I told you otherwise .. it's just what my mommy friends have told me.

But it doesn't happen to everyone. You might get lucky.

Good luck my dear! It's all happening for you RIGHT NOW!

Thats exactly what I had - I put a pad on because it just kept coming all day! I went 23 hours with that and no contractions, got induced 13hrs after it all started up!

It may be your nerves making you nauseous I'd keep OH home from work.. baby could be here quite soon! They usually like to see a delivery 12-24 hrs after membranes rupture I believe

MW at hospital is insisting it isn't my waters as I have not soaked my pad. I have had a tiny leak since I put it on and it was bloodstained, but she didn't seem concerned about it.

We have decided H will go into work and I will call him to come home if necessary. I would much prefer him here with me, but if baby isn't making his arrival we don't want his paternity leave to start too soon. Would much prefer he was at home with me and baby then pre-labour.
