| a sweep is where the MW insert 2 fingers in to your cervix and move them around in a circle to seperate the membrance from the cervix lineing.
This helps soften the cervix up and can bring on labour.
Its normaly done from 38 weeks onwards but it depends on your MW and area, diffrent areas have diffrent policys
