Birthing pool hire

Hi all - apologies for barging in from 2nd tri but i was wondering if any of you had hired birthing pools and where to get the best price? I've seen some go up to £450 for 4 week hire - that seems like a fair bit of cash to be spending right before having a baby.

If anyone knows of a more cost efffective way to have a water birth at home, please let me know.

Thanks,

Tori x

we've bought one on ebay for £40 including pumps etc -listing said it hadn't been used as they wound up in hospital, but I plan to sterilise it a few times and get a new liner for about £20. Bit cheaper! Is worth keeping an eye out as not that many seem to come up.

Our local NCT homebirth group has two available for use - they haven't mentioned any cost, so I'm hoping it's either free or negligible. They've been donated to the group by people who have had their LOs and no longer need them.

You might have something like that round your way - this isn't the normal NCT ante natal classes, but a specific monthly meeting dedicated to giving info about homebirths.
