What's the Point?

These doctor appointments are starting to drive me nuts. I ave one every two weeks and I just learned once I hit 35 weeks, I have to have one every single week until the child is born >.<;; and, I mean, I'd be okay with it, if there was a point to it, but everytime I go in, they check my blood pressure (which has been 110/80 eeeevery single time) and they do the heartbeat (which is strong, eeevery single time). If I had high blood pressure or something, okay, that I could understand as being a reason to go in weekly instead of biweekly. But really? It seems more of an unnecessary hassle to go. To get there, I have to walk to the bus station (which is hell, cause my hip/leg joints hurt and my stomach hurts and I get short of breath) then take the bus (wonderful thing pregnancy has given me --> motion sickness) then walk some more from the stop to the office. The appointment is about 5 minutes long, if even, and then I have to head back home. By the time I get home, I'm all dizzy and terribly overheating, sweaty and dehydrated. I'm thinking going to these appointments so often is doing me more harm than good :P I don't know, what do you think? Am I being a whiney drama-queen, or do I make sense?

but if you don't go to those appointments, it could be tragic. I know they're a pain but things can creep up on you in the last few weeks like preeclampsia etc. The baby's heartrate could drop and you would never know. Be happy we're blessed with good healthcare!
Just know it's all for the health of your baby.

Be grateful for reasonabley good prenatal care. Surely it is worth it for your baby. Many countries where ladies are lucky to see anyone throughout their pregnancy!
A lot can change in one week. Take a drink with you if you feel dizzy and dehydrated. Not having a go at you. Take care

Does everyone have to go everyweek when you hit 25 weeks?

My doctors will be 80 miles away (1hour 20 minute drive) when i turn 35 weeks so it'll be a right chew.

I'm getting sick of all the appointments and i'm not having them weekly yet! i know its good to get things checked but all the walking and then waiting (my surgery is always at least half an hour behind) is such a hassle!

I'm finding it really hard to get to my drs as i have SPD which is getting worse so was thinking of asking for the midwife to come to me...maybe u could try this too if u find it hard to get to the sugery?

I have to have appointments every week and i think they are a bit pointless to be honest but i guess at least they're keeping a close eye so if something is wrong they'll pick it up sooner rather than later.

I have had MW appt every 2 wks from 36 wks. Once I hit 40wks I will be seen every week until the wee mans arrival.

I can understand why you are so peeved about the travelling to the appts and the lenght of the time. I am lucky to drive and my appts always last around 15mins.
