Munchkins head is fully engaged......how long did anybody have to wait after this?

I have been to the midwife today who has told me that the baby is fully engaged

...........she was really surprised because last week the baby was just sitting above my pelvis, she said its a fast worker!

I just wondered how long people have had to wait before once they know its fully engaged.........I'm sure I have heard that you can still go over due. I am nearly 37 weeks, could I still be here at 41 waiting?

Last night I thought things were kicking off as I had lots of pains that were coming in waves, but as soon as I had my paracetomal and hot bath they calmed down, I then had them through the night, but they stopped, and then I had some this afternoon, and then they stopped again!

I lost some of my plug last week and lost quite a but yesterday before all the pains started. I just wondered if anybody thinks all of this could be a positive sign?

Just commented in another thread hun, but not with good news so you might not want to read it!

Im now a week overdue... have been fully engaged for over a month now, was down to having very very painful contractions every 20 minutes on 3 occassions... but all just teasing me. Still nothing.

I really hope you dont have to wait as long as this!!

Brooke was fuly engaged for a couple of weeks before i went into labour

Sorry say head engaging means nothing lol
I think Amber engaged around just over 2 weeks before due date, tbh, was early enough, the amount of pain and pressure on my pubic bone was horrible. I went overdue.
I was losing my plug for around 6 weeks, sometimes happened when i had BH.

With my first she was engaged at 32weeks and didnt have her till 42 weeks!!But she was awkward so I wouldnt worry! You just never know with these babies!!you might be lucky and this might be the start for you.xx

with a first baby head can engage early ( so i was told) may not happen until just before labour starts with subsquent babies, hoping this is true as having my 4th and been told today head is engaged. trying not too get too excited!
