Emergency Scan & DRs Appointment

I have just had the midwife out to do my birth plan. Every thing was all going well until I saw the surge of panic across her face when she was feeling my tummy and measuring me.

She then got straight on the phone and called the hospital to arrange an emergency scan and an appointment with the doctor.

She advised me that im measuring far too big. They cant find the back line and unsure of how the baby is in the womb as they couldnt feel any distinctive points.

She said she dosent want me to worry but I just cant help it.

So im booked in for wednesday. I know work are going to get arsey with me.. Even though legally they cant as i am entitled to special paid leave...

Take it off hun - work! My last day is 21st its a bit stressful and anything thats stressful I'd rather try to avoid.

Don't you love it when you see panic and they follow it with "dont you panic" DOH! Mind if it was that serious she'd have kicked you there today hun.

Try not to panic based on the fact they arent rushing yo in I believe if they think your too big they will induce you is all so maybe they just check for that ...

i wouldnt worry bout work, cant believe you are still at work. im sure everything will be ok. gud luck for weds.

i had extra scans on Coby coz he was big, he was messureing alot bigger than my dates, i can understand how scared you are being rushed in for scans etc, but its nothing to worry about honest, if the baby is shown to be big then they will talk about early induction depending on what size the baby is messureing and his estimated weight at the scan.

They normaly dont like to induce for big babies, but if they dont think your body and pelvis will cope with the size then they will.

Every thing was well. The midwife had me worrying for no reason..

I was 36wks + 5 at the time of the scan and she measured 36Wks +2. Her estimated weight at the time was 6lb1 & she is head down.

My due dates 7.12.2007 and if i havent had her by the 12.12.2007 I have to go back to the hospital to see the doctor.
