Tips for Getting them to Induce?

Ok I am now 5 days overdue and to say i'm pissed off would be a Mega Understatement! I have a MW Appointment this afternoon where I am gonna try and get a sweep done ( I say try as they couldnt do it last week cos my dumb body isnt getting ready for labour!) anyway, what I wanna know is any ideas as to what strings to pull with my MW to get booked in for induction sooner rather than later? I am measuring huge and my last Due Date baby was 9lb, If she says ive got to wait until 14 days over I am gonna I really would rather not have an induction and I hope my panic will send me in naturally myself but I have gotten to the stage now where I just want him Out!! so! any ideas ladies? xx

i'd much rather wait you know, until it is absolutley necessary.

i had to be induced with my son at 39weeks on the drip (althugh could have had it done sooner due to spd/pgp same goes for this preg) as my waters went but contractions didn't start and all through my labour i couldn't move i had to stay relativly still on my back - moving knocked babies heart rate off, which caused a big old panic as you can imagine, as some babies don't tolerate it well and become distressed etc etc. not sure if this is your 1st or not but i wouldn't want to be having full blown contractions on my back again it wasn't the nicest feeling to say the least

def recomend you read up about the effects of being induced before you ask.

if you are absolutely desperate to get baby out then keep trying walking and birthing ball and sitting upright to put pressure downthere, as honestly it wasn't all that fun being induced. i'm hoping this time that i wont need any help, so long as everything is normal and baby is healthy of course... even though i am in agony with spd/pgp and have been literally house bound the entire of my preg.

my son turned out to be 9lbs 3.5oz and 51cms long and i only had a 3rd degree graze. no stitches. no nothing. not even any pain after i hadhim, no pain weeing, no need for pain killers/cool pads etc etc. i felt great. so just because you think you are having a big baby (don't forget measurements can be off) it doesn't mean you will be any worse off than somebody having a 6lb baby

whatever you decide good luck, you'll do great

xXx

Cry hun, I did and it worked!

I suffer from SPD and I played on this..

Id have enough and was willing to do ANYTHING!

I got Ant to wheel me in to see the consultant in a wheel chair, with my crutches slung across my knee and I burst out crying when he said to me 'how are you feeling?'

It did the trick

I am also hoping to avoid being induced.Last time was horrible,I couldn't move off the bed, drips and clip attached to babies head.If I budged they lost LO's HB trace and all hell broke loose.
Giving birth semi-flat on my back was so hard and took forever.
I was hoping to be able to be mobile this time.

Hun,if you tell them you are very very tired and can't take anymore they should offer to induce ahead of time.
They don't want you going into labour exhausted xxx

My midwife is always heard (thin doors at our surgery) saying to overdue women 'we induce if we need to for baby, not mummy'... Good luck getting the birth you want.
