Your honest opinion on girls name

Ok firstly I don't actually know if baby is a boy or girl so this could turn out to be a pretty pointless thread but wanted some advice on a girls name.

I really, really like the name Imogen and this was in our top two but now a friend of a friend (that I don't like) has just called her baby Imogen, they live locally to which is the main issue, wouldn't bother me if they weren't so close.

Anyway as I love Imogen so much and Imy for short I was thinking of Imarni instead, that way I can still have Imy (which is what we would be calling her on a day to day basis) and then she would have the option of calling herself Imarni when she is older if she wanted.

The problem is oh has said he hates it, and it sounds odd with his last name (which is does a bit) she would be called Imarni Marsh.......

Tell me honestly am I barking mad, is it a really bad idea ? I know I could talk him round if I persist but I don't want to do that if I am going to lumber my poor child with a name they will hate for ever.

I think you should stick with Imogen if that's what you like. So what if a friend of a friend uses it too.

i think it sounds really unusual and pretty and doesnt sound odd with the surname atall.
but with the others i dont think u should let it bother u if a friend of a friend has used the name u like, what are the chances u will still know/see her in years to come anyway, if u love imogen then go for it i say x

My cousin had this exact same dilemma last year - she decided on changing it a little to emogen - she calls her Emmy for short!! maybe this would help - although I do like Imarni, its really different and pretty!!
