Horrible, horrible news (not bump-related)

Baby's arriving in nine days......and today DH was fired from his job. They gave him a bogus reason, most likely it's budget cuts because he worked for a big multinational.

We are thankfully in a good financial situation, but I feel so bad for DH because he's obviously heartbroken about this...his pride of being able to provide for the family and the fact that he loved his job, loved the great benefits (such as health insurance).

Can you girls think of ways I can comfort him short-term? Just think of the way men are universally and what your OH would love for you to do and say in this situation. Thanks ladies.

I'm sorry to hear about this...but the good news is he'll have sometime off to spend with you and the baby! But I can only imagine how he's feeling. Just reassure him that he'll find something soon and that in the meantime he gets to bond more with his new baby!

Yes, that's number one on "the brightside list".

This is awfull news, im so sorry that this has happened to u... Maybe boost his ego a bit by telling him u know he did nothing wrong and its the economy that has caused this...etc....
Im glad to hear u are in a good financial postition that would definitley help relieve the stress that goes along with loosing ur job, at least their is not the immediate worry of how u will meet rent or mortgage payments..!!!!!

hope all goes well

Oh hun that really really sucks! Big hugs for you. My OH went through something similar last year when the company he worked for went bankrupt, it was right after we found out we were expecting so it was hard. Just be there for him, he will come around - perhaps you can make light of the situation that he will be able to spend more time with bubs at home before getting a new job??

Aww hun, huge , Im so sorry this has happened, the best thing to do is be there for him and try and get him to look on the brightside of things, like being able to spend quality time with you and the baby to bond. Im sure he will find another job very soon, thinking of you, take care XX

It sucks losing a job, but maybe this will give him a couple weeks with you and the baby If you're financially stable, why not take a little 'vacation' and enjoy being a family together. He'll find a new job and be in a more relaxed frame of mind if he can think of it like that.

Thank you for the idea, I booked us a night at a spa tomorrow! There are lots of trails for him to ride his beloved mountainbike on, and I can sit by the pool reading a trashy magazine.
