You don't have to be induced if you don't want to. All the women on my mum's side of the family go over on average by 3 weeks so I expect to be similar. If I do, I will be going in for monitoring rather than being induced. I think, for me, that I'll only get induced if there's a problem

sometimes its better to be induced--- i had a family member who went overdue and had a terrible gut feeling that something was wrong with the baby and went in and they told her she was fine and sent her home---next day she had the baby pulled out of her because it had been gone for a day----so better to get induced than to lose the baby if ur already due --- even if it ends up earlier by a week or two --the baby's fully developed anyway--- and wont harm him/her in any way

Yes they actually have to induce and get the baby out if the baby is showing signs of distress, like less fluid around it, or the placenta is getting old. Apparently the placenta isn't made to work forever, so these things all tie in together. It's always best though to listen to your own gut feeling and combine that with the doctor's advice.

its can be for bub to my ex's grandma cant speak english and when she was younger and pregnant with her 2nd baby the doctors kept telling her to bring in her husband because she needs to be induced but she didnt understand and by the time the hospital realised she didnt understand and just intervined(sp?) she was 3 weeks over and the baby had died. so i think some bubs just dont want to go easily and have to be evicted.

I have the period like pain as well.

I think the induction should def be done, if you have a gut feeling sth might be wrong.

my brother and me where both two weeks early, but my 11 years younger sister went over.

my mother got the feeling that she did not move as much anymore and went to hospital to be induced.

and my sister had the umbilical cord twice around her neck and was blue in the face!

I def would keep a careful eye on what my body is telling me in case going overdue!
