Reallyneed help with this question - about cars and car seats

I need to buy a new car as mine is an absolute death trap!! My FIL has found a car through a mechanic friend which is a good deal as its in really good condition, done fairly low mileage for its age and has power steering etc. BUT it is a 3 door car.

What i need help with is whether it would be a nightmare taking a car seat in and out of the back seat with a 3 door car. As we have a travel system so it would be a daily occurence. Apparently the door opens wide and the front seat comes forward easily but you'd still be leaning in and twisting each time. And as baby gets heavier i imagine this could get difficult.

Has anyone here got a 3 door car and find it no hassle with putting a car seat in and out of the back??

I'd be really grateful if you could let me know
thanks
xx

My MIL is actually a nanny and last week put her back out completely putting baby into her 3 door car,has been off work since on super strong painkillers to help and has now bought a 5 door purely for this reason. ive also helped her put the carseat in and it was a nightmare with the 3 doors, especially if your car is parked in a space with a car next to you. Kx

i would say if you was going to get the 3 door car then passengers would have to go in the back and baby would have to go in front (if there no air bag)

thanks for the advice girls. I did think about putting the car seat in the front (as long as there was no air bag) but wasn't sure if it was less safe? Also after they grow out of the first car seat don't you have to put them in the back? But then at least it would be a permanent car seat and you would only have to lug baby in and out and not the carseat as well.

You know what i have a 3 door car and i actually find it easier than using my 5 door car!!

I just climb in the back and strap her in whereas in the 5 door im leaning over her to plug the belt in etc.

I've got a 3 door and tried taking the car seat in and out to see what it was like and it wasnt bad...the only thing i couldnt do was put the handle down cos you have to press the button at both sides!

we've got a 3 door car too, so we brought the isofix car seat base, and its really easy .
Isofix one is £115 in mothercare but you have to check whether its been tested in the car you have, but they can tell you in there if you ask.
Or you can get the 3 point seat belt one which is only about £60. dont know if that one has to be tested.
I think all you have to do is buy like an adaptor thing if its not a maxi cosi one.
