Irritable uterus

Hi there everyone, how are you all doing? I hope you are ok!

Well I ended up in the assessment unit today after having lots of pains and tightening of the bump...........they think I have irritable uterus but have said to keep an eye on things and to go back if the pains get worse or regular!

I felt so scared on the way to hosp as little one didn't have any movements and all of a sudden I just didn't feel pregnant.

Well when I got there they hooked me up to the monitor for half an hour to monitor babys heartbeat and my uterus. They said it had picked things up but there was no real cause for concern after an internal showed that there was no leaking of waters and everything was still in tact.

Just wondered if anybody else has been told that they have this?

Hi Gemma,

I got told i had it and had to spend the night in hospital. I wouldnt worry tho i was 31 weeks when this happened to me and i have been find since.

At first they thought it was labour but everything turned out to be normal. They didnt really know what had caused it.

I had this in my last pregnancy. I was in and out of hospital with false contrations. Took a good few times before the realised i had an irritable uterus. Baby was moving around so much it was setting off contrations. I didnt have any problems though and ended up going over due lol

Thanks for that! interesting what you were saying about baby moving so much it would set them off, thats what was happening with me, the more movement I get, the more I seem to get the pains. Take care x

Hiya... I have this. I had some periody cramps/periody backache that really concerned me. I asked the midwife at my last check up and she said I've got an 'irritable uterus'. So, I wouldn't worry too much. Just take it easy and put your feet up whenever you can...

I think I have the same thing. I have been having contractions on and off for the the last 4 weeks . It sounds exactly the same as what u r having .I went in to get checked last week and i was 1 1/2 dilated but everything has really settled down now I am due tomorrow and no sign of going lol. Good luck.
