Inductions

hiya

so i have just been told i am going in on friday to start my induction with the prostaglandin gel. i was just wondering if any of you have had this before and what happened? was it sucessful and if so how long after the gel etc??

any experiences (good or bad

) appreciated!

my last 3 were all induced with prostin, the first one of the 3 was a super speedy delivery i had my 1st gel at 6am and he was here by 11.25am, the 2nd one i dont remember the timing of but the 3rd i had a couple of doses of it and then had to have a hormone drip to speed up my contractions

The only thing i found with all mine was the pain-what seemed to be contractions-but werent they were just prostin pains caused by the gel!!

thanks pink_witch! 5 and a half hours, thats really quick! thats what im afraid of as i think they will give me it at night then send my husband home!

I had mine in feb last year...I was taken in on the sunday and given that thing they put up you (dunno how to spell it etc sorry lol pessery???) Monday came and iit had done nothing for me and there wasnt room in the labour ward so I wasnt taken down... tues came and they woke me up at 8am.... took me down ther and then broke my waters at 9am... It wasnt as bad as ppl make out... there was a woman in the nxt room havin hers done at the time and she was screamin so i shat myself a bit lol. But they did it and it was a tad uncomfy but did not hurt, They put me on a drip to start off the contractions but I only went on it for 15 mins as they decided to come on full and strong on their own. By half 3 that afternoon Elinor was born

I was induced with my son, they monitored me for about a hour before then put the gel up at 10am and then monitored me agian for about a hour. I was the told to walk around ect to help bring it on. I wasnt checked until 6pm which i had been told they would check me soon but hey thats the nhs for you,by this time i was 4cm and they broke my waters. I didnt need a drip. he was born at 5.14am in theatre by rotational forceps but only coz he was a funny way round and his heartbeat dipped nothing to do with being induced,i dont think.

I was induced with my son and it was 30 hrs from first dose of gel to delivery! From about 10am when it started until 11:30 at night there was only half a centimetre of progress and they were about to give me a c section because they'd broken my water about 7 hours earlier and I was having strong regular contractions with no progress. convinced the doctor to give me a bit longer, and at about 2 am there was at 2 cm. My experience with it was pretty negative all around as my body didn't take to the epidural too good either so I got no sleep the whole time. But in the end all worth it!

i was induced last month.... bypassed gel tho as i was 2cm gone n didnt know. mine wasnt normal binduction tho as hosp had screwed up by not ordering the special blood i had to have on standby so waters bust n left to progress normally took hours.... then they hooked me up to drip once i was in established labour n hour n half later out she popped. omg the pain ! gimme a back to back delivery anyday!
