Pain relief for after the birth??

So I spent 2 hours last night laying awake wondering what to take for the afterpains after the birth. don't want to scare anyone here - it's not that they are too bad but the last thing you want after labour is pain AND a baby!

From past experience on the post natal wards they only dish out medication at certain times, so I'm thinking of taking my own this time. (That's if the homebirth goes out of the window!)

So do I take Paracetamol, Asprin or Ibuprofen??? And as with any medication on the back of either of the packet it will say "Not suitable for use if you are breast feeding" Which we all will be!

Anyone got any ideas??

my hospital doled out the paracetamol at 4 hour intervals more or less anyway. you can buzz them for more anyway. I took arnica (homoeopathic) pills a friend gave me for bruising. Dunno if they worked but i did heal fastx
