Health care / medical coverage

So I have gestational diabetes. The nurse at my doctors office said the meter to check my blood sugar is covered and the insurance company would mail it to me in a few days. Then she said she would call in a prescription to my pharmacy. So she did and it turns out for the last three months of my pregnancy it would cost around $350 for the testing strips and lancets. My husband talked to a friend that he works with whose wife is diabetic and he said her supplies are covered. We thought maybe because hers is a lifelong condition as mine is temporary. Turns out it's not covered under his prescription plan but his actual medical benefits! Phewwwww. So I called a few numbers and I have to call one back on Monday but it looks like everything will be covered!!
So my point is ladies, call every number you have and check around before giving in when it concerns your health benefits.
