My day is thurs, but I am sooo hoping I go into natural labour before that!
I ALWAYS said I didnt want natural labour but by the sounds of it, its quicker? so I really dont give a crap.
I wanna be in and out that hospital as soon as.
So Im scheduled for 8am, but for some weird reason my gyney doesnt think I will deliver until fri morning... this confused me a little.- why would it take 24 whole hours? Im terrified enough as it is, without knowing Im going to be stuck in the hospital for an estimated 24 hrs before I give birth.

My cervix was dilted to 1cm last fri, and I think I had a sweep, aswell as something that really hurt (was that a stretching maybe? or i that the same thing?) My cervix was thinning, but still, I was told I may need 2 of the tablets inserted into my 'flu' and each one takes 6 hours to work?

I would just like to know, for those who have been induced, and with your 1st baby- what time were u induced, when was ur LO born, and when did u go home?

I had an induction with Coby, i had the pessery put in and then 3 hours later he was born, mine was very quick! i went home 5/6 hours after that.

Others are induced and it can take a couple of days, it all depends on the person and your body. hope it doesnt take to long for you tho

Coby wasn't your first tho was he? See, does this make a difference?
I know this sounds really stupid, but I dont understand why they just cant give you something and send you home- if its going to take a few days, or estimate a couple days, then is there NOTHING that can be done where you can wander off home for a bit?
Im not even allowed to leave the hospital- I wanted to nip over to the pub that they have on the grounds but they wont even lemme do that; it's not like I want a drink or anything- just a change of schenery. If it takes 6 hrs for the tablets to work, or whatever, why cant I just nip off outside for a bit?
As for goinh nome 6 hrs later- was this the case with ur first, too?

i wasnt induced with Charlie (my first) my waters went and she was born 12 hours later, because she was my first they wanted to keep me in over night.

No one can predict really what will happen, my sisters first labour was 32 hours and then she stayed in over night, my other sister had a c section so she had to stay in for a few days, it really all depends on how your body will react to it.

If you have been getting pains on and off then hopefuly that means your body and cervix will respond quickly to the induction, they tell you 6 hours coz its the worse case senario, but it doesnt nessersarly (sp?) mean that you will be waiting for that long, they told me all this before i was induced with Coby, the put the pressary in then i had to lay on the bed for an hour strapped to the monitor, after an hour nothing was happening so i was allowed to go for a walk, we went to the cafe to get some food then it all kicked in and i progressed very quickly.

try not to stress about it, the more uptight you are the more tense your body will be, you need to be relaxed and then hopefuly it will work quicker coz your body wont be fighting it

my friend was induced on the monday morning and nothing really happened until the evening when she got contractions. her little girl was born at 2.00am on the tuesday

And she was home by tues night?

I know I keep going on about 'going home' etc: but my phobia of drs and hospitals really is to the extreme.
Im going to sound like a cry baby now, but Ive been crying about it for the last 2 nights.
I should have known before getting pregnant that I wouldnt cope with whats to come, but I just didnt listen to my instincs (sp?) and I continued to try for a baby!

Layla, again, contradicting stories; (not on our part . on the drs) Mine has told me that IF I had a csection which she didnt want to happen because of my anxiety and fear of hospital, I would be staying in approx a week- but from what I have read from other people, they were out in like TWO DAYS?
Maybe they're trying to scare me out of the whole CSection idea because they know Im so terrified of staying in a hospital, but the way I see it, if it COULD take 2/3 days to be induced, go into labour, have baby and get home, they may aswel give me the csection, get baby out in a matter of minutes, and keep me there til Im fit to leave because either way it seems I cant win.
But like you said, everyone is different.
This is going to sound nuts I know, but im considering not turning up on thurs- i'll only be 41 weeks, so that shouldnt be an issue should it? I mean he COULD still come on his own??

Im trying to word this right so i dont offend or freak you out, but i really feel you need to look at all teh possibles,

You could have a 3 hour labour and be out and home within 6 hours, but then you could be induced have a 30+ labour, still end up needing a section and be kept in for 3 or 4 days. I know your phobia of hospitals is big, but you have to go along with whats right for your baby and if that means staying in, then so be it.

My induction was quick, but i know others who have taken many hours, there really is no garentee or quick fix to having a baby, its pot luck and you have to acept that and go with teh flow.

Sorry, i dont mean to sounds harsh, im just worried that your thinking you will be in and out when you might not be

it would also be very selfish to come home if your baby needs to be in hospital for a bit longer.
