Thrush...

Sorry for this thread, M/W said I had thrush Tuesday and gave me cream and pessaries...the pessary was soooo uncomfy to do...why didn't she give me the tablet? Is it dangerous for bubs?
And also how long does it take to clear up and can it harm bubs? xx

Thankyou xx

I've just been given a pessary and told to put it in over night. So I'm guessing by the time I have shower in the morning it should work.

I think tablets have got extra ingredients in you don't need while preggers, also believe the pessary works better when preggers too.

Juts got my prescription this avo, so i it goes tonight.

Hi Hun

I have had to have the pessary twice. There is no information to suggest the pessary hurts the baby. I asked my doctor, and four, yes four, midwives. I also called cow and gate helpline and all said the same thing. That thrush is VERY common in pregnancy and the quickest safest way of getting rid of it is by using a pessary.
I left mine, without using a pessary and it caused cervical bleeding, so it's very important to take note when you get thrush because even spotting can cause a panic!
It will take a few days to clear up and if after three days you still have symptoms see your GP. Mine was uncomfy to do on both occasions and the second dose stung a bit, but I feel miles better now sweetie xxx

It usually states that by the 3rd day you should have signs of improvement with it.

If you take the oral tablet it can pass over to the baby but if you use pessary and cream it does not as it has no way too. So you should only use the cream and pessary they give you hun xxx

You cant have flucanazole when you are pregnant (the ingredient in thrush tablets) so thats why you get the pessary. You should feel better within 48 hours of using the pessary and the cream should give relief xx

I've been tolds to use pessary for three nights in a row and thats one dosage! It does feel better already after one night, but will continue to use. Just have to be careful I don't catch myself again!

The oral tablet is a no no the passary is safe ...did you use the stick? They usually advice you don't use that instead to use your finger and push the pessary up with your finger as far as you can! I did 2 treatments of pessary the other week x
