Rant/question.... Kind of long...

Im not sure where to put this.. Theres probably a spot to rant about annoying work related issues.. I hope no one minds that its here...

I have notified my employer a month ago that I am going on Maternity leave this month, March 13th...Ever since I have done that shes been a complete bitch to me, to the point where she is getting pissed at me for taking time off for doctors appointments.. Right now its every two weeks I go in to the doctors.I can see how that may be frustrating to an employer but it should be understandable. I have called into work sick 3 times in the last 2 months, because I just didnt feel up to par, or if it was because I got no sleep the night before or I was sore etc... The reason why I called in sick shouldn't matter to her.. Ive offered doctors notes and she wont except them, she just complains and complains.. Personally 3 times in 2 months isnt that bad at all.. There are other employees who call in sick more than that, that aren't even expecting a baby. I work at a resort in housekeeping so I am on my feet and being physical for 8 hours straight.. Sometimes it gets hard..

Last week there was some problems with taking time off.. I had an ultrasound and i wanted to take 2 extra days off because my parents were visiting me.. They wanted to take me shopping for the baby.. So I had booked the 3 days off around the same time I had told her about Maternity leave.. But then when the time comes, i looked on the schedule and I was scheduled in all 3 of those days... I came to her and asked her why this was.. and all she could say to me was that she missed place my request time off slip and that I needed to work... Well excuse me but im not missing an ultrasound appointment.. So i told her that I wasnt coming in, obviously she was pissed off.. and maybe im wrong for not showing up.. But that kind of thing is important...
I have been calling her for the past 3 days trying to figure out if I work this week and what my hours are.. Ive been leaving mgs on her voice mail for her to call me back.. She hasnt yet... Im getting tired of this.. I go on maternity leave in less than 2 weeks...

Should I just go in and ask for my record of employment and just leave early? or if I quit will that mess up filing for Maternity Leave??..

I'm not sure how leaving early or even quitting would affect your maternity leave (as I'm not sure of the regulations in Canada) but I would think it wouldn't have a very positive effect - especially quitting.

Can you go in and try to speak to her face to face, as well as finding our your hours?

Hopefully you can get things sorted quickly, this is the last thing you need to be dealing with just now

Can you speak to someone in human resources, or maybe HER boss? She sounds like a witch! You might have some legal rights that she is disregarding?! Hope you get it sorted.

Definitely don't quit. Then (as far as I know anyways) you aren't entitled to maternity leave, and who knows what they would pay you for unemployment as they can deny you if you quit your job.
I'd think it really depends on how your employer views the situation of you not coming in. They can't do anything about it if you have a doctor's appointment, but the time you took off to go shopping I'd think they could discipline you for, and depending on your company possibly let you go...
Personally I'd go in and find out if I was scheduled to work. I know at my job it's my responsibility to know my schedule and they don't have to call me. SO if I didn't show up I couldn't blame them and that would give them another reason to do a suspension or something.

Again hard to comment when your in canada and diff regs etc, I wldn't quit but you might be able to bring mat leave forward.

She does sound like she's being out of order and you need to speak to someone else above her about her attitude. I don't know the laws but here you have to be given time off for docs app and ultrasounds, and if sickness related to preg you can't face any reprisals for it. Perhaps look into what your rights are a bit more?
