Hi, my sister last week took a hpt on her due date and got a faint line, she got me to get her another hpt and again a faint line, i saw them both and they were def lines. Later on that day she had a intense pain in her lower left side so her gp sent her to hosp, the hosp did a test and it was negative, they then treated her like she was making her 2 tests up and made her feel awful, just before discharging her they did the hcg blood test but told her she would have to wait till the following day for the results, she ended up buying a digi hpt on the way home cause she was so upset, this came up 1-2 weeks preg and the blood results the next day confirmed it. Don't give up, take a digi or frer and then go to docs and demand a blood test, good look x

yes, i agree... i've experienced it too... i've tested 3 times, and they are all positives, went to clinic to confirm it, the dr don't want to see the bfp sticks that i brought.... and he ask me to do the hpt at his clinic... but it came out negative... and he refused to do the ultrasound, and don't even bother to set me another appointment.... i bought another 3 testers the next day, including digital, and all says i'm pregnant... 1 week after that, i've finally managed to buy the same tester as the dr used, and there's is a line, but very very faint... compare to other 2 testers (different brand, but using the same urine), the other 2 were with clear lines... so, sometimes, we can't rely to 1 doc.... i've went to 3 clinics and 1 hospital, which finally confirmed that I'm pregnant...
so, don't give up... good luck to you...

i hope you are doing ok...do you have any update?

when i had a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage back in February i was very lucky to be treated by an excellent nurse at hospital. she took the time to explain why GP's and the NHS have this negative opinion of home pregnancy tests. it is because increasingly large numbers of women are going through the heartache of chemical pregnancies....between 50 -60% of first pregnancies end in a chemical and more and more women know they are having one instead of just a late period because of early HGC tests. i really really wish i hadn't tested early and put my whole family through something which could have been avoided.

the nhs and GP's use a less sensitive test, because by the time it shows on these tests it is far more likely to be a sustainable pregnancy, and they want to be sure when they give you their opinion.

i am in no way suggesting yours will end like this, but am just trying to give some reasons as to why they don't take HGC tests as gospel and use less sensitive tests. it is unfortunate your nurse was so rude and did not take the time to explain things better. i will keep everything crossed and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Can anyone help. I have been ttc for some time now. Starting spotting with terriable cramps yesterday to hpt faint postives, went to the hospital and they examined me and did 2 pregnancy tests that were negative. Dr says i have proberly had a early mc but totally dismissed the fact that I had 2 positives he said the hospital tests are mega sensitive. Done a first response hpt this morning and its a faint positive
