Gender scan/20 week scan are they the same scan?

Good morning all

Sorry to sound abit silly..........

Just wondering is a gender scan and a 20 week scan the same scans or are they totally different.

At how many weeks can you have a gender scan?
How much is it?

Dont stress there are No silly qn's...

Ours is one in the same... not sure that works everywhere mind...

Hi, Ive got my 20 week scan on monday but as far as i know they check the measurements of the baby and if they can tell you the sex they will, if you ask. I think you just get more information at your 20 week scan.

I think the 20 week scan is called an anomoly scan but if they are able to they can check the sex for you aswell. But over here you have to ask as it isnt something they look for.

at a gender scan (ithink there private) they'll just scan you to find out the sex of baby..but at the 20wk scan they measure all limbs, tummy, spine, brain, everything even to their valves in the heart... but also will let ya know the sex. hope this helps x x

In our area (nhs lothian) they will not tell you the sex of the baby at the 20 week anomaly scan. We had to book a private gender scan which cost us £75

Everywhere is different, but the main purpose of the 20 week scan is to check for anomalies. If they can tell you the sex it is a bonus but that's not the purpose of the scan.

yes the 20 weeks scan can also determine the sex of the baby from what i know . so its all the same scan at the same time .
