Upset and stressed out by midwife and blood tests

Hi, I was told that if I wanted the blood tests for downs syndrome and neural tube defects to go and see my midwife to get the blood tests done between 15 and 16 weeks. I went today at 15+2.

Firstly when I made the app I asked for my midwife and was told it would be her, but it was a different midwife.
Secondly she said I was too early and that the test wouldn't be as accurate and to come back in a week which I said okay (quite happy that I would get another afternoon off work!)
As I was getting my coat back on she said and these were her words "I will just take the blood anyway as it will probably be okay".
To this I got quite upset as first it was too early and a weeks time would be better and then to be told it will probably be okay. I know these tests are not 100% accurate but I didn't want the accuracy to be affected more by her taking the blood today.
I have now to go back on Thursday and not looking forward to it as I have to see her.

Am I being over sensitive?

How many weeks was everyone else when they got these blood tests done?

not being funny love but pregnant woman isnt oversensitive, dont worry yourself too much about it the midwife was probably just having a bad day.

My MW was like that ... i was 16 weeks on Christmas day and one min she was saying she didn't want to do my bloods Christmas eve or the day before in case they were sat round somewhere going bad and it effected the results ..... next minute shes saying im sure i will be fine tho i will get them over and done with Christmas eve!!

Ive heard of other girls having it early or late, a friend of mine from another forum was telling me she had it done straight after her 12 week scan!

Its up to you tho hun ... if its going to worry you cancel the appointment, just say you cant make it and rearrange it for the next week ... im sure its fine tho

I'm sure its ok - I had my bloods taken at my 12 week scan too. Also - I've never seen the same midwife, we have a team of 6 and I've seen a different one everytime. If you are worried, make another appointment with them and ask to have it again or for them to check it.
