Hair removal creams???

Are hair removal creams safe during pregnancy? I googled it and got everything from 'completely fine' to 'NO WAY' to 'this really hasn't been studied'. Anyone got any clear answers from drs etc.?

I'm too much of a wimp for waxing and shaving gives me a rash and I don't think I can stand to be hairy any longer!

Thanks

I'm not sure.... it might be a no-no, but I use Nair.

I have never heard anything to say that it is a no go. Have a look on the packaging if it has a warning for pregnant women then I would avoid it otherwise go for it! It is just cream and isn't being absorbed by bub. Would be just like hair dye!

I'm using it. I figure it's only on your body for a maximum on 10 minutes and you don't rub it in so there is not really a risk of it getting absorbed....

Thanks everyone

From what I read, there are just no studies about it - but it's hard to do studies on pregnant ladies, so the drs just look for reported cases of problems associated with products, which there are none for these creams.

Think I'll give it a go. My logic is that it can't be any worse that hair dye. I respect and understand the decision of those who choose to be causious and give it a miss. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Hair removal creams contain chemicals.
Granted, they do work - but if the creams you put ON your skin have the potential to be ABSORBED by the skin (at least to some degree) then I think I would be hesitant to use them at all, let alone during pregnancy.
