Ok, spill the beans! What is it like?

Hi, by the way. I'm cooney and I just came from first tri a few days ago and have been scoping the new trimester out. =)

Before I was not worried about birth. I didn't feel pregnant. It was not real to me. Now I feel tiny infrequent flutters, I show when I take my clothes off, My fiance is starting to touch my belly all the time. I will find out the gender on the 3rd of February... and It's all crashing down on me!

Now I'm wondering what Birth is like. Exactly what it is like? How bad dose it hurt? Did i hurt more or less than you thought it would? How long did it take? Is it really as bad a everyone says?

I'm no stranger to pain. I broke my back in 2 places (No it didn't touch the spinal chord, I can walk and run and jump) I broke my ankle, I broke my wrist and my tail bone. I have had 2 surgeries and Have been to the hospital with allot of bad illnesses. (yeah and I'm only 20)

Still childbirth? Tops all of those on the "scary hospital visits" list. You would think my experience makes me touch and brave... But I;m a huge baby!

So tell me everything, to those who have given birth before!

Hi! Welcome!

Honestly I remember giving birth, and I remember that it hurt but I don't remember the pain specifically.

I was induced and was in labour for a total of 30 hours - 1 hour of pushing. The epidural I got after about 13 hours wore off 2 or 3 hours before I started pushing and it did hurt, and there was LOTS of pressure, but I can't remember specifically how much. It's wierd. I had so many people telling me before I had my son that I wouldn't remember the pain and I didn't believe them especially I remember thinking during labour "yea as if I can forget this!!" then my son was there and they were right!

Still not looking forward to it a 2nd time

I havent been through birth yet but im petrified of it, I certainly dont have a high pain threshold =[ The one way I have to look at is is that he has to come out one way and I cant wait to hold him. Its weird how we countdown the weeks to the birth but we wouldnt countdown weeks for pain and thats what we're basically doin lol!! Im sure we will be just fine, its probs more scarey cuz people have all different experiences and its all unknown to us!! Good luck xx

I'm absolutely terrified of giving birth. I don't care how "natural" people say it is, it just isn't very natural to me. The idea of hours of pain doesn't appeal to me, and that's only before they are even willing to offer an epidural. And the thought of pushing something that freakin' huge out of something that small and having everything stretched (I've seen it, and it wasn't pleasant to see let alone think about doing myself) makes me wish they would just give me a general so I don't have to be around for any of it.

Some people look forward to it, but I just want to check out.

I'm actually quite calm about it all. As long as I can mentally prepare myself, I should be fine (I say that now!! ). I'm one of those people who think it's completely natural. Our bodies are designed to do it. Yes, it'll bloody hurt, but in the end we get a gorgeous baby (or babies!) and thats got to be worth the pain!!

It hurts hon, no one can ever say it doesnt. It hurts , it can take many hours and it's hard bloody work! But,all I can say is, it's worth every second.

If you look at how many go back and have more children, well that should answer your question. When you know what the end result of all the pain and sweat is, it really doesnt feel like pain and sweat and once you are holding your baby, you really do forget about labour!!!
