Counting Movements....?

Morning Ladies,

JUst a question regarding counting fetal movements.

When they say that you should count 10 movements in any 12 hour period.......

Does that mean 12 individual movements (meaning that LO could cover these in one bout of wriggles) or 10 seperate episodes of movements???

Also, is this ANY movement? HArd kicks, soft kicks or what!

I look forward to your comments!!!

Thanks,

xx

I dont think they mean 10 separate episodes of the wiggles ... just 10 actual movements, though im not 100% sure as no one has even told me to monitor movement yet lol!!

Thanks Holly.

Confusing isn't it! I have started counting (worry guts that i am) and she seems to move costantly sometimes for an hour and then nothing for 2 or 3, then i get small kicks and wriggles and think that i won't count that as they are soft and want to wait for a real whack!

I don't know!!!

I think it's 10 seperate movements although I get 10 episodes at the moment.. very active LO now ;o
I'm not monitoring movement but if I don't feel one for 24 hours then I shall panic and call MW.

The thing is, if it is just 10 seperate movements, my LO would do that before i am out of bed.

Maybe i should just stop worrying!???

Thanks Blah

Remember that babys most active period is between 24-28 weeks (i think). After that LO runs out of room and can't roll about as much

I think as long as you feel 'some' movements on a daily basis then its fine.

I dont count i didnt know you had to but it defintly moves more than 10 times, or kicks. As there is about an hour it will be kicking about then its quiet and will start again late that day. 5 am this moring it was kicking me like mad and i think that was 10 kicks alone. Was awake at 9 also but seems to have gone for a nap now. Its good at my bedtime though it actually sleeps.

When i went to the hospital with reduced movements....they hooked me up to a monitor and told me every single movement i had to push this button.....so of course if baba goes crazy thats 20 movements in the space of 2 mins well i did as i was told.....and she said thats alot of movements so baba is ok. I asked if one 'episode' was classed as 1 movement or not....she said "no every movement is classes a 1 movement so you can get 20 in the space of 2 mins....then nothing for a few hours and the same again"

So if your getting this big outburst you'll be fine

and member baba is very active now ....my baba has just ran out of space so these outbursts no longer happen. he just 'rolls' his legs etc every now and again....so i think thats why its more important when your further gone than earlier (if that makes sense)
