i want to cry.. oh wait i am..
14 weeks today and went to doc... still haven't heard babies heart beat... and she is telling me 18 weeks for my FIRST scan....
i'm at the point where nothing is really telling me i have a baby growing inside me... i've never been so stressed in my life...
i don't understand why everyone else seems to get their dating scan at 12 weeks, and i have to wait til 18 to get my FIRST SCAN!?!? 2 weeks short of when everyone knows the sex of their baby.

i'm just so upset that i have to wait til basically half way through my pregnancy to even see my baby.. and i'm paranoid that come that 18 week mark, there won't be a heartbeat or anything there... there's nothing really sticking it in my head that i'm pregnant..

Aaw that sucks! I don't understand why that is!! Surely you should have been given a scan at around 12 weeks!! Have you asked your midwife why this is?

Sigh, welcome to Canada. I didn't hear my babies heartbeat until 13 weeks, and I don't have my ultrasound till september 29th. My only ultrasound, unless there is something wrong, or I go private. It seems that its only in the UK that they are right on the ball for it.
No doppler yet? Now thats weird. Perhaps its time to look for a different doctor, while you are still early along.

Sorry to hear the crappy news. Any chance you can purchase a doppler on ebay or something so you can hear your baby? I'm not sure if this will help you but I complained to my doctor early on that my symptoms vanished and they did a scan just to make sure there was a baby. Maybe you can make a stink about it?!

No midwife... they're harder to come by here in Ontario, and everytime I leave a message (since they NEVER answer) I never get a call back! Go figure!

My OH ordered me a doppler as part of my birthday present... right from the Sonotrax website, but it was on backorder apparently.

and pennysbored, if she's only gonna give me one ultrasound too, she better wait til 20 weeks or after because i want to know what i'm having, and i will not be ok with one ultrasound and not finding out... grrr... i wanna live in the UK!

oh no thats rubbish!! but they should be able to tell you what ur having at 18 weeks!! Dont get upset about it hun (i know its easy for me to say). Roll on the doppler arriving!!!

If you have no bleeding or bad pains there is no reason to think (after 12 weeks) that something is wrong, if you get either then tell them and they should check for you!

I hope you feel a bit better soon. can you not get a private scan somewhere? they do private ones just to confirm viability of pregnancy over here and they are quite cheap!

good idea.. most private scanning over here is to get the 3D/4D pictures and videos.... but I'll research and see what I can find!

aww thats horrible hunni. I know we have a dating scan at 12 weeks over here and then an 20 week scan around 20 weeks. It must be different where you are sweetie. Chin up hun and im sure when you go for your scan you will see baby bouncing away inside you and if you want to finding out if lil one is a gurl or boy
