I'm Currently Feeling: | Wow! i really shocked that you girls dont get offered scans earlier than this! it must be really hard for you waiting all that time
You can get normal 2D reassurance scans done privately which arent as good quality as the new 3D/4D ones but they would still be able to put your mind at rest & it would save you having to wait.
Hope you manage to see your LO soon hun x |

| I didn't get my first scan until I was 14 weeks but I did pay for a private one at 9 weeks just for reassurance! I didn't hear LOs heartbeat til 17 weeks too so I think thats quite normal! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | it does suck that the norm here in Canada is only the 18-20 week scan. But what about the Nuchal Translucency scan at 14 weeks? Have you not been offered one of those or do you not want one?
I actually have had several scans - 1 at 10 weeks when I had some bleeding. Then i requested one at 12 weeks (coz that's what I expected being from the UK) then I had NT scan at 14 weeks and then the normal scan at 19 weeks (which was 4D and I got a dvd of video clips for $20 - so much better than forking out for a private scan!) |

My OH ordered me a doppler as part of my birthday present... right from the Sonotrax website, but it was on backorder apparently.
and pennysbored, if she's only gonna give me one ultrasound too, she better wait til 20 weeks or after because i want to know what i'm having, and i will not be ok with one ultrasound and not finding out... grrr... i wanna live in the UK! | Hey hun on the + side you can tell the sex at 18 weeks I thought it was bad here I do not even have an appt with OB/GYN yet but the nice part is my GP knows I work in healthcare and also is very liberal at giving what his patients want. I just went in said I want a u/s and he gave me the paper. We have a walk-in u/s place so I just went in. I am going to make an appt with him again soon to ask for that nuchal scan for 14 weeks and then another one for 18-20 to get the anatomy/sex done.
Good Luck I hope it works out for you |

I'm Currently Feeling: | my doctor is kind of useless... after all she is the one that told me when i first told her i was pregnant that i NEEDED to get an abortion because of a vaccine I had... didn't give me any options, just told me that's what I had to do... I researched the vaccine, and there is no change in the risk to baby with or without vaccine.
she hasn't done anything with me... friday was my THIRD appointment I made since becoming pregnant, and it was the FIRST time she did anything... weight, blood pressure, pap smear, etc... i don't even know if she delivers.. she hasn't discussed anything with me regarding my labour or ANYTHING.... no OB/GYN... nothing. so yeah.
i think this is going to be one of the worst experiences I could have had with a doctor who doesn't seem to care! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | well ladies! i just managed to get called from the waiting list i was on for a midwife! i'm quite excited! could have been in for my first appointment on the 29th, but due to just started a new full time job today, i had to put it off til october 20th, but i'm very happy because i'm sure things will start going better for my pregnancy, i won't have to be so worried that everything will be done later than everyone else!
can't wait for my first appointment! |

My doc did the heartbeat at 14 weeks so I would definitely ask about that at your next appt - I get it done every time now. It definitely will help the pregnancy seem more real.
Good luck! I know waiting sucks! | Wow..that does really suck. I had no idea others were having to wait so long.
My doctor mentioned that I would have another ultrasound...but now that Ive moved to the maternity clinic Im wondering!
I know Ive had so many due to some problems. I wonder if maybe Ive also had so many just random ones because of my Rh factor..and my previous m/c?
Im so sorry you ladies are going through this.
Wow. | That could be it, my pregnancy has been pretty textbook (whatever that means), and my OB/Gyn is on the ball, so I feel confident in her methods, and there was no real question within a couple weeks of when I was due.
I'm not terribly concerned, I've had loads of tests, and the doppler is always out every appointment. It would be nice to have them monthly though, hey?
BUT honey, I think that you need a new doctor. What they are doing is not acceptable, not at all. I wish I could refer you to my doc! She's the bestest! |
