I'm Currently Feeling: | I got horrendous stretch marks with my first, they're absolutely HUGE! I hadn't actually heard about them splitting open, but was worried about exactly how far my skin would be able to stretch (its already stretched to the limit!!)
I've been using anything and everything this time round, my stomach already looks like an underground map of london (from the last two) but i wanted to give it all the help i could this time round, so bio oil ( i don't like the greasiness of this but it does help), cocoa butter, normal moisturiser, dove body wash.......
The list is endless.........lol |

I'm Currently Feeling: | apparently palmers coco butter is the best and one of the cheapest on the market however my friend told me that when she was preggers she used baby oil (not bio oil just plain baby oil) and she has no stretch marks, apparently she was told about from her mum and her mum was told about it from her friend. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My question to people using bio-oil or anything else who have not gotten any stretch marks yet...do you have stretch marks in other places already? Because if you dont...chances are you wouldnt have any. Just curious... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I've been a bit hit and miss with this so far, but am starting to think about getting into better habits! So far I have just used my normal moisturiser, but going by all the recommendations I think I'll get some cocoa butter.
I already have some stretch marks on my hips from when I was a teenager and having fluctuated in weight a bit over the years, so I know I'm prone to them.
I'm inclined to say that it probably doesn't matter *what* you massage with, just that you use something. It's mostly about keeping the skin well nourished and moisturised but I reckon there's probably a benefit just from the act of the massage too. You stimulate the blood flow and physically stretch the skin and keep it supple with the circular motions of the massage. |

I've been using bio oil as a conductor for my doppler on my stomach (then massage it in afterwards) and no stretch marks there yet. I keep forgetting to do everywhere else though.. I'm using bio-oil in the bath too though. I've got loads of stretch marks on my inner thighs already and I did get one behind my knee earlier in pregnancy.
I think I just haven't got any on my stomach yet because it's not at the point of stretching! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sadly I really think its due to genetics. Amy's mum didnt get a single one and neither has Amy so far. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i was so small last time but got stretch marks near the end. I ahve them on my legs when i was a teen and i always moistured them so im guessing that theres nothing much can be done as its just the ekasticity of ur skin |

So logic would suggest that if you try to improve its elasticity the stretch marks will not be so bad. Stretching, toning, massaging and moisturising can all improve skin's elasticity. But then again, there's an awful lot about pregnancy that defies logic! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I was told by my midwife during my last pregnancy that stretch marks are due to the lack of elasticity in your skin, rapid hormone changes & whether you're genetically predisposed.
She said that some women who are huge defy all logic by not getting any stretch marks at all, whereas she had a patient who was ginger and very pale skinned who started getting them from week 7 and she hadn't even started growing yet! |
