I'm Currently Feeling: | Just had u/s- results kinda worrysome! So I had my ultrasound on thursday and it was considered a "level 2" because my bloodwork came back that the baby was at an increased risk for Spina bifida. Well, we went for the ultrasound and the radiologist told us that the spine and brain looked good so it wasnt anything we had to worry about.
Well I saw my OBGYN today to discuss the results and he said that the radiologist (who he had just called "The best radiologist in the city") found an abnormality in the bowel and was wondering if there was any family history of Cystic Fibrosis! My husband and I talked about family history back at the beginning of my pregnancy and we talked to our parents and we both don't know of any family history of this.
My doctor told me not to worry, and he didnt want to do any further testing. Said that if anything happens at birth (breathing difficulties for the baby or the babyis unable to empty the bladder properly) he would refer us to a pediatrician. He also said that the chance of us having a baby with Cystic Fibrosis is very slim... my husband and I would both have to be carriers of the gene for our baby to have it (and even then it would only be a 25% chance)
It's just so frustrating because I hate getting all this bad news! I know that he said things are probably fine and I have nothing to worry about, but have any of you had an ultrasound come back that said "Abnormal bowel" or "echogenic bowel"?? I know there's nothing I can do but worry until the baby is born, but I want a completely 100% healthy baby, as I'm sure every parent wants! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Oh hun, firstly HUGE HUGS!!!! I really wish i could reassure you but i've had no experience with any of the above. I know you must be worrying a lot but try not to, its not good for you 'or' bubs. You can only deal with facts, and at the moment its all ifs and buts. I do hope everything turns out to be ok, and bubs is fit and healthy. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | That sounds tough.
But chin up, doctors have a way of preparing you for the worst, even when the chances are slight. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I hope everything is ok....I'm surprised he's not testing you both anyway as it may give them (and you) more insight after birth and also you would be aware for further pregnancies if you were both carriers. Also if you're not both carriers then you can breathe a sigh of relief that there's no CF to worry about.
Good luck chick...hope it all works out for you xxxxxxxxxxxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Yep everyone is right. No point stressing yourself about something that is now totally out of your control. What IS in you control is that you do all the right things to look after yourself as you have already been doing the entire pregnancy. Focus on what you can do rather than what you cant.
I'm sure everything will be fine. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Try stay calm hun (I know easier said than done) .
Sometimes bloodworks etc are just wrong , I had a 1 in 100 chance (Wich is classed as high risk) of having a baby with downs , Because of nuchal fold ... They did scan after scan we worried to death our first baby so we didnt know what to do ... Then we had a perfectly healthy little girl , No one could ever give us a reason why her neck was allot thicker than average as it was fine at birth .
If the Drs are not concerned try stay positive and not worry . Good luck . xx . |
