Sick as a dog (it's moan time)

Oh I've had the worst cold since Sunday. It started on Friday but seemed to go and I spent all Saturday cleaning the house. Then Sunday I had a terrible migraine all day that wouldn't shift and by Monday felt totally and utterly rotten. Still ill on Tuesday (there went my bank holiday and last day of with DH before baby). DH came down with it yesterday so we're both off sick today. He's never been off sick the whole 18 months he's been in his job. To top it all off my nausea has come back full tilt so I feel extra shitty. Luckily for me the Doc has done a prescription for some anti-nausea medication. Dunno what it is yet but DH will collect it later today. I hope it helps. I'm sad to be forced to medication for it but the nausea though less frequent seems to be stronger now, I really keep suddenly feeling I'll be sick. I've got this work thing where I'm away for a week in a fortnight's time. Staying in a hotel and working all hours intensively. Last year I hardly ate as there wasn't chance to go find food so I hold out little hope for this year especially as half the buffet food will be off-limits. Hopefully the meds will help.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself I'm afraid! My cold doesn't seem to get any better and I'm not sure I'm even going to be able to return to work tomorrow. I hate being pregnant all illness seems magnified three fold and to last 4 times as long. Anyone else found this? Stupid no immune system...

Sorry your feeling so unwell !

I hope the meds work and you can start enjoying being pregnant !

As for work only go back when you feel better dont rush it or it will take twice as long to get over and while you away make sure you EAT!!!!!!!

Apparently there is some problem with the tablets the doctor has prescribed and there is only some disgusting syrup by the same people that will as likely make me retch as stop it I imagine. And the chemist doesn't stock it and won't get it in. So my poor DH is back to the docs to see if they can change the prescription for something that actually exists or is safe or whatever is not right about the first prescription. Why does this happen whenever I try and get a prescription for anything that might actually help how shit I feel?

Poor DH is too ill for all this hanging around the docs waiting to be seen. Now he's going to have to cancel his first driving lesson he's supposed to have this evening because he'll be too ill and tire to do it now.

Ahh you need to take time out and rest, get your strength back. It'll pass, concentrate on that. When I have a migraine, I focus on the next day to try and get myself through it. Same with the sickness, I keep thinking it will get better and it's for the best reason. Plenty of tlc is in order XXXXX

Poor thing. I hope you feel better soon. Have you tried the travel sickness bands for the nausea? I am still getting it too and these have worked for me - at least to take the edge off so I can face eating something.

It is HARD WORK being pregnant and every little niggle worries us if it doesn't half cripple us.
Only thing that works for me is making a big pillowy nest on the sofa, surrounding myself with drinks and food and watching lots of dvds or reading tonnes of books. It's never going to hurt to rest as much as we can because when LO does arrive, we will have to shift into a gear we have never had before and distracting myself from all the discomforts and worries of pregnancy is sometimes the only way to deal with it. So I hope you can rest as much as possible and dig into something to keep your mind off of all the feeling sick.

Thanks Shri, I've not tried the bands, I guess I am just sceptical about the different causes of nausea! I've just taken my first tablet of metoclopramine so hopefully I won't break into spasms and hopefully the baby will be fine. It wasn't my normal doctor though and when I asked if the first thing he'd prescribed (that's got a manufacturing problem right now) was like cyclizine he said no, it's an antihistamine. Well cyclizine is an antihistamine so that's not exactly filling me with confidence! I hope it helps. After 6 months of this I have just reached the end and today feeling so sick together with this really very bad cold indeed it's just too much. I can just take one if I really need it so will try to manage without but it'll be so helpful (if it works) when I'm away with work.

That's such great advice. Rest really helps, my mum has taken Amelie off me for a few hours today and it was lovely to spend time resting and taking it easy. I felt so sick this morning.
