I'm Currently Feeling: | A little Low platelet count At 21 weeks I did a CBC test and the result os the platelet count was just given to me which is 136,000 a little low to the normal range which is 150,000
Doctor didnt seem worried, but I am, though my mom says I am overreacting because its normal to drop a little.
What can make it go up? I read some things on the net and I am scared for it to go lower. I am having a good diet, and enriching my body with good nutrients.
Please help! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | If I'm right, platelets will drop because the blood becomes a bit more dilute during pregnancy (I think) as we have more of it, by volume. If your doctor isn't worried I don't suppose you need to be, but you sound anxious so perhaps give them another call and ask for some advice? |

I am a bit anxious, I dont want anything to go wrong in this pregnancy. I asked mom about this and she screamed at me telling me I shouldnt worry for this stupid thing as it is nothing to worry about. |

Doc can probably tell you what range is considered safe and what can be done if you are borderline or whatever. You may as well ask as not especially if it helps settles your mind. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi Suzan. I'm in a similar boat. I had my blood results read back to me when I saw the midwife at 24wks she said my platelet levels seem to be dropping each time they take blood. I'm ashamed to say I had to ask what that meant and what platelets do!!! She was great about it actually (for all my cussing of her) and explained that a small percentage of woman who are pregnant will find their platelet levels drop throughout pregnancy and that as soon as they give birth... levels are right back to normal! Peanutbean is bob on about the volume of blood, and 'pumping for two'.
Having looked on the internet to see if I could do anything, all I have found so far is 'to eat a varied diet'??!! I'm trying it, as I probably have been a bit predictable and 'samey' with food.
Easy to say try not to worry, as I panicked at 1st.
