Braxton Hicks? What is this?

Last night, DH and I were laying in bed and my lower abdomen(a few inches below my navel) got rock hard. It stayed like that for a good 15 minutes and was very uncomfortable. I never had Braxton Hicks with my first. Not sure what it is. The only other thing I can imagine it being is the baby in a very strange position. Maybe it's back up against my bellybutton and pushing with its feet. This is not the first time I've experienced this and I'm clueless as to whats going on in there. Anyone else experience this?

Hi Beltane!

I first noticed these type on sensations after, ahem, orgasm in my 1st tri. I have them on and off at random ever since. I was told they were called braxton hicks. Most unpleasant feeling as your tummy goes soooo hard, but without pain!

I know Braxton hicks is most common in the third tri and normally lasts up to 5 minutes. Thats why I'm thinking it's something else such as LO doing splits! This went on for 15 minutes or more.

I haven't had these myself, but from what others say, it's probably harmless Braxton Hicks!!

If your not happy, give your MW a call.

i get this all the time, first i thought yea must be BH but as it went on i dont think it is, i think its LO stretching or something, it isn't painful, my belly just goes rock solid for about 10minutes then either the hard part moves or it just goes all together. it dusn't hurt so im not worrying
