Heartburn

Does anyone know what I can do to stop getting heartburn? Or at least make it a bit better? It's been really bad since yesterday morning and the acid refluxes are making me feel really icky. I've taken Gaviscon a few times because my pregnancy book said that was ok, but i'm worried about taking it too much. Any advice ladies?

Don't worry about taking too much hun, you'll be fine. As for ideas to stop it - forget it!! If you've got it, you've got it! I'm 28 weeks now and have had it for the whole pregnancy. Nothing has stopped it!
Good luck in your quest though!!!

I have heard to help try and stop it not to eat spicy food and to eat little and often but even this doesnt always work sorry hun

Rennie or Gaviscon tablets seem to help me, but when I feel it starting to come on, I try to sip some milk slowly and that can help ease the pain too.

Also, with my 1st, I found that the position I was sat in could make it worse....like if I was sat all curled up it made it worse....try laying stretched out, this used to help me sometimes.

xx

Do you have TUMS over there?
In N.America, those are the safe antacids to take. My girlfriend had a miserable time with heartburn and used to take those chewable ones by the handful. By the end, I think she was just grinding them up and sprinkling them directly on to her food like a condiment! Just kidding! She did swear by them, though!

I have found that sitting up or propping myself up at night helps. Also, small meals without citrus fruit/juices, small glass of milk and chewy Rennies have worked for me.
