Baby Movements

I was just curious as to how soon people were feeling proper kicks and movements?

I've felt LO for about two weeks now and last night she must have been doing the Rumba or something because she was moving constantly for about 20mins and made me jump a couple of times. I must be feeling her about 5/6 times a day now.

No one can feel the movements if they put their hand on my belly though, which is a shame as OH can't feel anything yet.

I think I started feeling movement at 17 1/2 or 18 weeks. For the last week or so I've been able to feel them from the outside and occasionally see my belly move when LO kicks, and DH felt them for the first time only a few days ago.

I'd say if you're feeling them with this frequency at less than 19 weeks, it won't be long until your OH will be able to feel them from the outside, too!

I get moments when the kicks seem more kick like and then LO will have another few wriggly goldfish days. My doc said they don't expect a pattern to even begin emerging until 26 weeks and it's a bit after that again that they like you to keep a track of things.

But like you, I want to know how come some days LO wriggles for ages all at once and other times it's the odd tap or flick here and there - and I get really paranoid when I don't feel anything for a few hours. Let's hope lots of people reply so we can get a better idea of how things progress.

Thanks girls!

Shri, I'm the same. Some days she's kicking in the morning but last night she was having a field day at 11pm. Sometimes it's a couple of kicks and other times it last for 10-20mins.

I'm hoping that it won't be too long before OH can feel them. I think he feels a bit left out when I tell him that his daughter is moving around and he can't feel it too.

Hi there! I felt bub move quite early, about 16 weeks. Although it was very subtle then. Been told my placenta is on the back of my womb, so I guess this has helped with feeling kicks.

So very reassuring to feel bub, isn't it?

I started feeling the pop's around 14weeks. But I was unsure if it was wind or baby, as this is my 1st, so I wasn't knowing what to expect. But now i'm nearly 20 weeks, they're definately kicks now. Feels like a quick poke, sometimes its like twitches?! I'm assuming that's her moving. OH can't feel her on the outside yet. But I'm hoping it will be soon.

I felt slight movements at around 18 weeks and they gradually got stronger and stronger. It's only the past few weeks thaI've actually felt definite little thuds. This week the movements have got stronger again, and yesterday I actually saw bump move for the 1st time, which was amazing.
I used to drive myself mad comparing myself to others, and would worry that I hadn't felt bubs as early as others. BUt in the end I realised that everybody is different, and there's no point comparing with others, cos it'll happen when it's meant to happen. It won't be much longer until you can feel bubs from the outside, and trust me, when that time comes it'll have been so worth the wait!

I didn't feel anything then at 18 weeks exactly got a couple of kicks. Been able to feel LO almost every night since, and sometimes during the day too. At bedtime I usually feel movement for 10-20 mins, if I can stay awake long enough! lol

I was expecting to get the flutters everyone talks about first but just seemed to skip that bit as my LO gave me 2 strong kicks one morning at 17 weeks. I was so surpised I actually jumped in my seat (I was on the tram) and I've been feeling he/she quite frequently since. x
