thats well not fair!! what difference does it make to them whether you take the two weeks as hol or maternity?? surely they should let you, as i'm assuming your work's like mine where you have to take all your hols by the end of the tax year?? my work also has a thing about working over christmas, but there are always exceptions made, ok so you have to apply for it 3 years before you do it, but being pregnant surely they can make allowances!! if all else fails - go on the sick!

I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference. Are they allowed to stop you taking the holiday you are entitled to? I hope not coz I have just asked for the 2weeks before I'm due to start my maternity leave off

I'll get the two weeks off regardless and get leave on the week i want to but I really wanted the annual leave then so I get my 100% full wage. I don't really want to mess about with my pay right before Christmas :'(

That sucks, but its all about money for your employer. They likely know that you will just take the matleave instead of holidays and then they wont have to pay you extra.

Im lucky, our vacation pay gets paid to us twice a year, once just around the end of Dec and once in July. Im not taking any vacation this year, no point really.

Our work gives us a top up on our matleave, so I will be getting 90% of my wage for 6 months of my mat leave, the other 6 months will be regular mat leave benefits.

I don't think it's about money at all b/c they'll still need to pay me those 2 weeks at the end of my mat leave. No one is usually allowed holidays during the festive period unless it's in your contract. I can understand why b/c it's unfair that some get holiday and some need to work.

So its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Tell them either way you're finishing on that date. They can either give it you as AL or you tag it on the end.
