We know the sex but kept the nursery neutral for a boy or a girl. We went with a Winnie the Pooh theme and used a lot of pastels (greens/blues/yellows)

We bought a cot bumper set from asda that has a forest scene on them (a fox, hedgehog, trees etc). My OH is a graphic designer so he is going to make stencils and I am going to sew a couple of cushions (how twee does that sound!) and keep the room quite neutral but along that theme.

I actually bought my set before we knew we were having a girl. It was on sale and a really really good deal, so we went for it. It is a stars and moons theme, with pastel yellows, greens, blues, and some pink.

I am having a little girl, but from the moment i found out i was pregnant i said i wanted a neutral coloured room. I have got the nursery set from Babies r us. Called 'I love my bear' creams, browns and a bit of mint green. I have just the paint white pepper and picnic basket for the room. Nice simple and warm.

I just checked out the mamas and papas site - really cute!
I have been adamant that we stay Team Yellow, but suddenly, over the last two days, my husband and I looked at each other and both confessed overwhelming curiousity about who baby is in there and have decided to totally cave and find out the sex!!
I am not sure if this changes our plans or not.
We were originally planning lots of bright folk art of various animals on the walls (I have travelled a lot and also work as a naturalist at the Zoo, so I already have a decent collection). And we were going to use fairly pale green and yellow paint to tie it all together.
I think we will probably stick to that as we want the nursery to work for one more child (unless, of course, this one is a complete hellion and puts us off procreation forever). I also want my child to have all the pictures as interesting things to look at and learn from.
So that's my very long answer about a very loose "theme"!

I'm afraid I wouldn't be going for a pink or blue theme anyway so staying yellow doesn't really make any difference. At the moment we're toying with the idea of having walls with different themes, like marine stuff on one wall all blue, another all green with forest animals, maybe a yellow one with savanna animals on. The fourth wall has a window to probably plain! But we've also a friend who does children's art so have asked if she'd like to come up with something we can paint up on to the wall too. I'd just like the room to be interesting and diverse rather than coordinated.

For bedding and that sort of thing I love the Safari Friends set from Babies R Us but can't afford it so unless we get it as a present (which is a possibility) we will just get whatever bedding, plain coloured sheets/blankets etc.
