Paranoid

Hi all!

I had my ultrasound last Wednesday and everything was fine, little heartbeat and LO was waving at us and everything. But i'm still absolutely petrified that my baby is going to die in my womb and I won't know. Trying to be rational about it but it's hard! My next scan isn't until 23 weeks so I was just wondering if when you have your midwife appointments does she check the heartbeat every time? Thanks x

I think it all depends on what the mw's do depending on what area you live in ... you should have a mw appointment coming up at around 16 weeks right?

I had a MW appointment at 16 weeks and she checked the heat beat. Also at 18 weeks exactly I started getting movements so now I can watch out for them to check LO is still alive and well. It's normal to worry but don't mistake worrying for prediction!

My doctor checks the heartbeat everytime. Try not to worry Just wait until you can actually feel the baby kicking LOL, then you'll really be paranoid, I will warn you now, sometimes my baby kicks up a storm for a day and then I dont feel her again for awhile. And then its back to kicking the crap out of my stomach! lol

I've only had 1 m/w appt, when I was 5 weeks? And i've had 2 scans, and I've never been given chance to listen to the h/b? Wierd! ..I guess it's different in different area's. Luckily I bought a doppler, as I was paranoid like you. So it made me stop worrying as much.

I was thinking about getting a doppler but then I thought i'd never take it off ! The only thing stopping me from getting one was that if i couldn't find the heartbeat for whatever reason it'd be panic stations all the time lol!

I think you may want to invest in a doppler! They are marvelous and we listen daily to little one and get deafened by being booted and it sounds like it's about 100 decibels through the ear phones!!! x
