I'm Currently Feeling: | How do you know if it's sciatica rather than just back ache?
I've been having a lot of problems at the bottom of my spine, sitting, standing, anything makes it worse, but activity (like painting the utility this weekend....) just destroys it so that once I've sat down I can barely stand up again and it's agony! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sciatica is a few inch to the side of the spine at the bottom, and the pain is like a thin , sharp pain that goes down the leg (which leg depends on which side the pain is on) For me the pain goes all the way down to the ankle.
Also i know because thats what the doctor, and physio said it was. For me it's because this is my 4th child (my eldest is only 6) Those hormones can play havoc with your body. I've also had some pelvis probs, so all in all i'm pretty much like an old woman, but it should get better after giving birth. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't think mine shoots down my legs, not yet anyway! Oh well, normal back ache for me! I want one of those donut cushions to sit on... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I got a v shaped cushion from argos for £5.99. It's fantastic, and a bargain. You get the pillowcase for free too. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I have pretty much a screwed up back anyway. Triple fractured coccyx, weak lumber area, and a previously twisted sacrum left me with dodgy SI joints. Happy fun times.
It's quite funny though at times because if i stand in a particular position for too long then its almost impossible for me to put weight on my left leg afterwards. That is unless I lean forward with my bum stuckout and roll my hip upwards and backwards towards the joint. I call it the 'Duck relief technique' Coz I think I look like a demented duck when I have to do it.
I've taken so many different pain killers over the years that paracetamol doesn't even register anymore. The most effective, I have to be honest, was good old fashioned ganja but since I'm all growed up now and it is not lawful, not to mention I can't smoke while pregnant, that's of no use at all! The only thing that eases the pain is hotwater bottle. My OH bought me one years ago with a wooly jumper on it with a heart in the middle. he bought it as a joke coz i was always cold but it's been a life saver. i highly recomend it. To everyone with a back problem. |
